Folklore #203
Folklore & calendar
Tết Trung Thu falls on the same autumn full moon as Chuseok and Mid-Autumn, and in Vietnam it belongs specifically to children, with lanterns and a lion dance.
The traditional explanation is agricultural: the harvest was in, the adults finally had time, and the festival became a way of making it up to the children. Star-shaped and carp-shaped lanterns are carried through the streets, and the moon is looked at rather than merely used as a date.
