Folklore #245 Folklore & calendar

The Old Farmer's Almanac has printed 'best days' for having teeth pulled, cutting hair and weaning for over two centuries, and still does.

The dates come from the Moon's sign, straight out of the medieval zodiac man — teeth are governed by particular signs and you avoid those. It is the same table a fifteenth-century barber-surgeon used, printed continuously into the present in a mass-market publication, which makes it one of the longest unbroken transmissions of astrological practice anywhere.
