Fact #193
Strange but true
A law signed at the end of 2020 requires any American mission licensed to land near an Apollo site to keep its distance and leave the artefacts alone.
It cannot make the Moon a national park — the Outer Space Treaty forbids claiming territory — so it works through licensing instead: comply, or do not get a licence. It binds nobody else, which leaves the footprints protected by American paperwork and by the sheer difficulty of getting there.
