Twelve people have walked on the Moon. All twelve did it inside a three and a half year window, between 1969 and 1972.

Six Apollo landings, two crew each. The last was Apollo 17 in December 1972, and Eugene Cernan was the last to step off the surface. Artemis II flew four people around the Moon in April 2026 without landing, so the number is still twelve, and it has now stood unchanged for longer than most of the people reading this have been alive.
