The Moon looks enormous on the horizon and normal overhead. It is the same size in both. The effect is entirely in your head.

Photograph it in both positions with the same lens and the discs measure identically, if anything the horizon Moon is very slightly smaller, since you're farther from it. The illusion has been documented since antiquity and still has no fully agreed explanation. Try looking at it upside down between your legs; it usually shrinks.
