The Great North American Eclipse
The Moon's shadow came ashore in Mazatlan, crossed Mexico, the United States and Canada, and left the continent at Newfoundland.
Totality ran up to four minutes twenty-eight seconds, nearly twice the 2017 eclipse, because the Moon was close to perigee and its disc comfortably overlapped the Sun's. The next one to cross this much of the United States is in 2045.
