A world title fought at four in the morning
Ali and Foreman fought in Kinshasa at four o'clock in the morning, because that was ten at night in New York.
Sixty thousand people sat in a stadium in the middle of the night so that American closed-circuit audiences could watch it after dinner. Ali spent seven rounds letting Foreman punch himself out on the ropes, then knocked him down in the eighth; the rain that would have flooded the ring arrived a couple of hours after the crowd left.
