A perfect landing, face down

Japan's SLIM put itself down within about 55 metres of the spot it was aiming at, which nobody had ever managed, and then finished upside down.

The target had been a 100-metre circle rather than the several-kilometre ellipse everything before it had settled for. One engine nozzle failed late in the descent and tipped it nose-first, so the solar cells faced the wrong way; it woke up eight days later when the Sun moved round, and survived three lunar nights it was never built for.
