Chromosphere

Chromosphere: A layer of the Sun's atmosphere above the photosphere and below the transition region.
The photosphere is the bright layer we usually see. Above it, the chromosphere contains dynamic gas and magnetic structures and can appear as a thin reddish rim in eclipse imagery.

- It is an important region for studying energy transfer into the Sun's outer atmosphere.
