The eight phases
The waxing crescent is the follow-through: the part where the intention has to survive contact with a Tuesday.
Traditionally this is the phase of first effort: signing up, buying the shoes, sending the message. The advice attached to it is unglamorous and, as advice goes, sound: pick one action small enough that you'll actually do it before the Moon reaches half.
