Rohini means 'the red one'. Its deity is Brahma and its lord is the Moon itself, which makes it the most fertile and most indulgent mansion in the set: growth, beauty, crops, appetite. The myth explains the phases — Chandra was cursed to waste away for neglecting his other twenty-six wives, and the cure only ever half works.
