The twenty-third mansion is a drum, its deities are the eight Vasus, and it is the only nakshatra whose subject is rhythm.

Its lord is Mars. Tradition reads it as music, timing, wealth and the ability to make a group move together — the drum being the instrument that organises everybody else. Its stars are the small diamond of Delphinus, which is one of the neatest little shapes in the sky.
