Decan
Also called decanate
A 10° third of a sign; there are 36, each assigned a ruling planet.
The decans come from Egyptian star-clocks. In the Chaldean scheme the rulers run through the planets in order starting with Mars at 0° Aries; a modern scheme gives each decan to a sign of the same element instead. The site's Moon panel already names the Moon's decan.
- Where sources differ
- The Chaldean and triplicity-based decan rulers differ.
