Modality
Also called quality, quadruplicity, mode
Cardinal, fixed or mutable: the three ways of grouping the signs by their place in a season.
Each season has a cardinal sign that opens it, a fixed sign in the middle and a mutable sign at its end. Ptolemy described the same grouping as solstitial and equinoctial, solid, and bicorporeal signs.
