Oriental

In traditional astrology, a planet rising before the Sun (for the outer ones), or on the eastern side of the chart.

The term is used in more than one way, which is worth knowing when reading older texts.

Where sources differ: “Oriental of the Sun” and “oriental in the chart” are different definitions.
