Opposition (astronomy)
Also called at opposition
An outer planet directly opposite the Sun in the sky: closest and brightest for its cycle, and in mid-retrograde.
Astronomers use “opposition” for the planet-and-Sun alignment; astrologers use the same word for the aspect between any two chart factors. The site's Friends' Skies page tells you when a planet is at astronomical opposition.
