The star at the centre of the solar system; in a chart, the sign it occupied is the familiar “star sign”.
The Sun takes a year to go once round the zodiac, so its sign depends mainly on the birthday. Astrologers associate it with identity, vitality and what a person is trying to become, and traditionally with the father and authority. It is never retrograde as seen from Earth.
