The Emu War
Australia deployed soldiers with machine guns against 20,000 emus, and the emus won.
The birds scattered into small groups and proved almost impossible to hit; the commander later observed that they faced machine guns "with the invulnerability of tanks". The operation was withdrawn, resumed, and quietly abandoned.
