Shakespeare dies
Shakespeare, who mentions the Moon over four hundred times, died under a 95% waning gibbous.
The date usually given, 23 April, is Julian; England was still eleven days behind the rest of Europe. Feed the calendar date straight into an ephemeris and you get the wrong Moon, which is a mistake with a long and distinguished history.
