Tutankhamun's tomb opened
Howard Carter widened the hole, held up a candle, and saw "wonderful things", under a half moon.
He had been searching the Valley of the Kings for six years and his funding was about to be withdrawn. The tomb held over 5,000 objects and took ten years to clear.
