Folklore #194
Folklore & calendar
Zoroastrian tradition holds that when the primordial bull was killed, its seed was carried up to the Moon, purified there, and became every useful animal on Earth.
Mah is 'moon' in Persian and the deity of it, and the twelfth day of every month is dedicated to him. The bull's-seed story makes the Moon a filter rather than a light: the place where something is cleaned before it can be used, which is an unusual job description among moon gods.
