Folklore #225
Folklore & calendar
The Tibetan calendar occasionally omits a date entirely, or repeats one, so a month can run 1, 2, 4, 5 with no third at all.
Dates are assigned by which lunar day is in progress at daybreak, and because a lunar day is not a solar day, some get skipped and some get doubled. Losar, the new year, is calculated from all this and lands weeks away from Chinese New Year in some years. It is the most openly irregular calendar still in official use.
