Applying aspect
Also called applying
An aspect that is getting closer to exact because the faster body is moving towards it.
If fast Mars is 85° from slow Saturn and moving so the gap grows toward 90°, the square is applying. Astrologers often read an applying aspect as building or still to come, and a separating one as already under way.
- How it is worked out
- Worked out from the two bodies' longitudinal speeds: applying when the orb is shrinking. For the Ascendant and Midheaven, which turn with the sky rather than moving along the zodiac, this site gives no applying or separating state.
