Midheaven
Also called Medium Coeli, MC, MC
Where the ecliptic crosses the meridian above the horizon; astrologers associate it with career and public life.
The Midheaven is the chart's highest point. In quadrant systems such as Placidus it is also the cusp of the tenth house; in Whole Sign and Equal houses it can fall in the ninth, tenth or eleventh.
- How it is worked out
- From the right ascension of the meridian (local sidereal time) and the obliquity.
- Where sources differ
- Because it is not always the tenth cusp, the MC and the tenth house are not interchangeable terms, a point on which users of different house systems talk past each other.
