Shackleton's Endurance goes down
The Endurance finally sank beneath the Weddell Sea ice under a full moon.
Shackleton's crew had been camped on the floes watching her die for a month. The wreck was found in 2022, three kilometres down and almost perfectly preserved, within a few miles of the position the ship's captain had written down by dead reckoning.
